Granlund’s growth continues – record number of acquisitions
17.8.2026 – Granlund has expanded through a number of acquisitions during the first half of the year. Net sales growth has exceeded targets in both Finland and Sweden.
Granlund, the property and construction sector expert group, has continued to grow strongly during the first half of the year. A record number of acquisitions have been made: six in Finland, in the architectural, MEP design and construction management businesses, and one in the Netherlands.
Granlund’s pro forma net sales for January–June 2026 were EUR 116.9 million (EUR 85.4 million), including the net sales of both the Group and the acquired companies. The Group’s EBITDA margin for the first half of the year was 13.5%.

Granlund operates in six business areas: MEP design, architectural and structural design, construction management and supervision, software, and consulting. Growth during the first half of the year was driven by, among others, the data center sector, hospital projects and public sector projects. Several private-sector projects are also under way, including in office premises, retail and industry.
“The first half of the year has gone quite well for Granlund. There is a steady flow of work across all our business areas, and our offices have delivered good results both around Finland and in Sweden. We have a strong regional presence, which allows us to offer our customers local service,” explains Granlund’s CEO Pekka Metsi.
In Sweden, net sales for the first half of the year were EUR 9.3 million (EUR 8.4 million). “In Sweden, this year we have focused on stabilising our operations and pursuing organic growth. We have more than 100 experts across eight offices throughout Sweden. Just as at home, data center projects and the public sector are providing plenty of work there too,” Metsi says.
Granlund employee satisfaction at 95%
Granlund has also continued to recruit actively. A total of 160 new experts joined the Group during the first half of the year through recruitment and acquisitions. The Group now employs more than 1,800 people.
Employee satisfaction has also remained high. According to a staff survey carried out in the spring, as many as 95% of employees are satisfied with their workplace. Metsi says Granlund invests heavily in employee wellbeing and development opportunities. “We give our experts responsibility, as well as opportunities to train and develop their skills. Employee satisfaction and motivation are at the heart of expert work, and this is also reflected in customer satisfaction,” Metsi explains.

Sights set on international growth
Granlund’s goal for the coming years is to almost triple the Group’s net sales. One of its strategic objectives is internationalisation. In addition to Finland, Granlund operates in Sweden and the United Kingdom, and expanded into the Netherlands this spring through the acquisition of Smits van Burgst Groep.
According to Metsi, the acquisition is a good springboard into the Dutch market. “We see significant growth potential there, particularly in MEP design and energy consulting,” he says.
Granlund Group business area reviews
MEP design is Granlund’s largest business area, where the Group has maintained its position as market leader in Finland. It employs around 800 experts. Data centers and government projects feature prominently in the order book. Current projects in Finland include the Pasila central tower The Node, the Museum of Architecture and Design, the Aviation Museum, and OSAO Campus 2030.
Architectural design has grown to become one of the largest players in Finland, and the business now employs as many as 170 designers. Two acquisitions were completed in Finland during the first half of the year. Projects have particularly featured demanding healthcare and educational buildings, as well as industrial and data center projects.
Structural design has continued to grow strongly, with almost 100 experts now on board. Operations have been expanded regionally around Finland. In addition to data centers, significant sources of work have included healthcare and social welfare centre projects and the Hippos project in Jyväskylä. The fire safety design team has been expanded as planned. The service is now available locally in several locations.
Construction management and supervision has grown significantly as a business and now employs more than 200 experts. Two acquisitions were completed during the first half of the year in Finland. Projects have included office and commercial construction for both private and public sector clients. The data center sector is also providing strong demand.
Consulting employs around 200 experts working on sustainability, energy and property management matters. The regional network has been strengthened nationwide. In operational services, demand has been seen for survey and information management services, as well as maintenance management. On the project side, the business has also expanded into the data center sector.
Software: sales of Granlund Manager have remained steadily strong. The software has maintained its position as market leader in Finland, and growth in Sweden is also proceeding according to plan. In the first half of the year, 20% of sales came from outside Finland. The software business employs around 80 experts.
