Jari Innanen has been appointed as a new member of Granlund’s Board of Directors. Within the Group, he is responsible for leading and developing the data center business. Innanen has extensive experience in the data center sector, having launched the business at Granlund in the early 2010s and led its growth to its current scale as the Group’s largest business area. In addition, he has gained broad experience across several areas within the Group, and in recent years particularly in international projects and business operations.

“The data center sector is growing at an enormous pace globally. At Granlund, we have been able to grow our business and keep up with this development. We entered data center projects 15 years ago as an MEP design partner, but today our expertise covers data center design, consulting, as well as construction management and project management services,” Innanen explains.

Demand for data centers is increasing worldwide due to digitalisation and the growing adoption of AI and cloud services. Finland and the Nordic countries are attractive locations for data center operators, among other reasons, because of the favorable climate and extensive electricity grid.

“Data centers will be one of the largest private-sector investment areas in Finland in the coming years. That is why we believe it is extremely important to bring strong industry expertise into Granlund’s Board as well,” says Granlund’s President and CEO Pekka Metsi.

More than 300 Granlund experts work on data center projects in Finland and Sweden. The business area continues to grow, and new employees are currently being recruited for roles in design, project management, and commissioning, among others.

Changes to the Board

Board member Jack Westrén-Doll will step down from his role. He has been a member of Granlund’s Board since 2008 and has also served as Chair of the Board. Westrén-Doll has had a long career at Granlund and held several different positions within the company. He will continue with Granlund as a Senior Advisor.

“We would like to thank Jack for bringing strong expertise and insight to the Board. He has decades of experience in both Granlund’s development and the real estate and construction industry as a whole,” Metsi says.

The Board will continue to include Chair of the Board and CEO of Svevia AB Joachim Hallengren, CFO of Terveystalo Juuso Pajunen, from ICG Head of Nordic Operations Robin Molvin, and Manager Viktor Frisenstedt. From Granlund, CEO Pekka Metsi, Quality and Sustainability Director Maila Herva, Regional Director Tommi Miettinen, and Business Director Tapani Idman will continue as Board members.
