Turo Tinkanen to spur Granlund’s data and AI development
24.3.2026 – Turo Tinkanen, who will start work as Granlund’s Chief Information Officer in August, will bring considerable digital development expertise to Granlund. He has extensive experience in data development in the real estate and construction sector.
Turo Tinkanen, a communications engineer, will join Granlund on 1 August 2026 as the CIO and a member of the Management Team. In his new role, he will be responsible for the Group’s IT management as well as its data development and AI development.
For the past nine years, Tinkanen has worked as the CIO of Sitowise and a member of Sitowise Group’s Management Team. Before that, he worked as an IT consultant and entrepreneur for 16 years.
“I am excited to start work at Granlund in August. Granlund is a pioneer in the real estate and construction sector in the use of digital data and the development of digital services. Granlund’s innovative approach in these areas is driving the digitalisation of the entire sector,” Tinkanen says.
Turo has long and wide experience in our sector. It’s important that the CIO understands not only IT matters but also the special characteristics of the business.

During his career, Tinkanen has gained extensive experience in IT environments for consulting and design and the information systems used in the sector. He has also been responsible for the demanding IT integrations of dozens of mergers and acquisitions in Finland and the rest of the Nordic countries.
“Turo has long and wide experience in our sector. It’s important that the CIO understands not only IT matters but also the special characteristics of the business,” says Ville Reinikainen, Granlund’s Business Unit Director responsible for data strategy.
According to Reinikainen, IT management also plays an important role in Granlund’s strong internationalisation. In addition to Sweden, growth is mainly sought from other parts of Northern Europe through mergers and acquisitions.
“In acquisitions, the integration of IT systems is crucial for success. Turo has extensive experience of this.”
The importance of data in business is emphasised
Tinkanen will lead Granlund’s new IT Management and Development department, which is responsible for the management and information security of the Group’s data environment. The department’s work also includes the development of data-based, software-based and AI-based solutions. “Our role is to ensure Granlund’s IT capabilities and support the development of digital business solutions,” says Tinkanen.
Granlund’s CEO Pekka Metsi says that establishing the CIO role and a department focused on data expertise emphasises the importance of data in the Group’s business. “We are processing more data in a wider variety of ways. The role of Tinkanen’s department is to build architectures and management models for the smooth and secure processing of data. This allows the business areas to focus on the essential things, that is, working with customers and carrying out projects.”
Metsi points out that improving the productivity of the real estate and construction sector and achieving cost savings require data to flow smoothly and standardised data to be available for use at all stages of the lifecycle, from planning to maintenance.
“The importance of data is emphasised in demanding projects that require high technical competence, which are Granlund’s bread and butter. Data centers are a good example of this,” Metsi says.
IT management is playing an increasingly central role with the introduction of more AI-based solutions that can improve productivity.

Data solutions bring added value to customers
Data-driven services related to real estate and construction have grown to become a significant part of Granlund’s business. New digital services that promote customers’ business are continuously being developed, and new features are being added to existing services.
At the same time, Granlund is increasingly using data and new solutions to improve the efficiency of its own design work and to make the implementation of construction processes more efficient. “IT management is playing an increasingly central role with the introduction of more AI-based solutions that can improve productivity,” Tinkanen says.
He has a holistic view of the ongoing major digital transformation. AI is accelerating development, but in addition to new digital tools, completely new ways of working are needed. “Many things have to be rethought. There is still a lot of room for improvement in the real estate and construction sector.”
