Veho monitors energy efficiency and waste reporting with Granlund Manager
11.11.2025 – Operating in five countries, the Finnish automotive retailer and distributor Veho stands out as a pioneer in responsibility. Energy consumption, waste volumes and recycling rates are monitored across more than 50 properties. Granlund Manager supports smart, cost-efficient decisions and strengthens ESG reporting.

Veho aims to lead its industry towards a more sustainable future. The company’s goal is to achieve carbon neutrality across all its operations by 2025, in line with its vision of sustainable mobility. This ambition is reflected in continuous efforts to monitor and reduce environmental impact throughout the organisation.
According to Lia Samuelsson, Veho’s Head of Sustainability, energy efficiency has been developed through a range of measures across the company’s properties. Carbon calculation, first launched in Finland in 2020, has since been implemented in all operating countries. Renewable electricity is used in all countries, and the transition to renewable heat is underway wherever possible.
Building technology plays a key role in optimising energy efficiency, while material recovery has become one of the latest pillars of Veho’s environmental work. Precise waste tracking helps accelerate progress towards these goals.
To achieve results, every Veho employee and every site must be ‘on board’ with the shared vision. Equally essential is the ability to collect reliable, comparable data on energy consumption, waste streams and operational performance – a challenge that requires systematic monitoring and digital tools.
Waste reporting drives progress

Veho implemented Granlund Manager’s Maintenance Module in 2020 to support the management and planning of property maintenance. Two years later, the system was extended to cover waste monitoring and reporting – first in Finland and later expanded to Sweden and the Baltic countries. The monitoring now includes up to 15 waste streams.
We have set an ambitious goal for 2027: 90% of our operational waste will be reused or recycled. We are already above 80% today.
Lia Samuelsson, Head of Sustainability, Veho
Turning waste tracking into savings and cultural change
Veho’s goals are exceptionally ambitious. To reach them, it is critical that comparable waste data is collected in all operating countries and that the reporting processes are automated. Reliable data enables better decisions and significantly improves compliance with the EU CSRD reporting requirements.
Together with Granlund’s experts, Veho has defined ambitious, industry-specific performance targets. The collaboration has also included developing waste data automation and employee training to strengthen waste management practices across the organisation.

Progress has been steady. In Finland, nearly all essential data is now available in the system. Sweden is advancing quickly, while in the Baltic countries, data collection still involves some manual reporting due to varying capabilities of local waste operators. Granlund’s customer team continues to help develop automated data transfer processes to improve consistency across all markets.
The automotive business is highly competitive. It’s easy to demonstrate in numbers that material recycling can reduce waste management costs. That’s the kind of mindset that resonates where decisions are made.

Energy management powered by data
In 2024, Veho adopted the Granlund Manager ESG Module as a tool for energy management and sustainability monitoring.
Granlund Manager tracks heat, electricity and water consumption across Veho’s properties. The process started in Finland and is now being rolled out to Sweden and the Baltic countries.
Granlund Manager has been a valuable tool for managing property maintenance. It provides a wide range of analytics and combined data, from consumption and emissions to identifying possible deviations.

Optimising sustainability practices and consumption across properties and countries
Samuelsson explains that Veho’s sustainability team reviews the company’s carbon footprint every four months. Granlund Manager provides the master data for sustainability reporting, which is used to analyse energy consumption figures across countries – replacing the need for inconsistent Excel sheets.
We wanted to get rid of all the Excel files in different formats.

According to Karjalainen, the reports generated by Granlund Manager also indicate whether the building systems are functioning as intended, making operational management much clearer.
“We often look at the data retrospectively to assess electricity and heating use,” Samuelsson adds.
Monthly reporting based on Granlund Manager data allows Veho to evaluate the effectiveness of decisions and actions at both property and country level. If a building appears unusually energy-intensive, the situation can be investigated together with local teams.
One system brings clarity to management and reporting
Through close collaboration, Granlund’s experts and Veho’s team have jointly defined target levels and solved challenges related to waste data reporting.

Granlund Manager represents operations management for us. It allows us to monitor the performance of our properties and decide how often actions should be taken. Its dynamic reporting is particularly valuable – it’s a comprehensive tool that captures the essence of each building.
